I don't remember the blind/stack details but I don't see how he could be getting 5-1 unless the big blind was half his stack.


In general, I can't see the big blind overcalling with a lot of hands because under most tournament rules, if you both bust in the same hand, you get the higher spot. On those hands where your equity in the hand only goes down a little (i.e. not overpairs), your equity in the tournament probably goes up. Its almost always better for him to stay out of the hand and hope the big stack wins.
