First, thanks to JR for alerting me to these supers. I finished 7th in the
one today.
The buy in of $120 gets you T1000. There are Unlimited rebuys for the 1st
hour when <= T1000; $100 gets you T1000. There's a T2000 add-on for $100 at
the end of the first hour regardless of how many chips you have.
It's a very interesting structure. There were 93 entrants today & they paid
18 places! They only have 1 $5200 seat for each Saturday Super (unless the
previous week's winner already has a seat, then the seat rolls over to the
next week & they have 2 as they did 2 weekends ago). Here was the structure
today:
1. $5200 WPT tournament seat
2-3. $1060 tournament seat + $440
4-5. $1060 tournament seat + $340
6-9. $1060 tournament seat + $240
10. $1060 tournament seat + $140
11-18. $1060 tournament seat + $40
So, after first, it is essentially flat! My strategy was survival mode
until 2 tables, then semi-maniac mode to try to accumulate chips. At one
point, with 2 tables left, I was in 2nd or 3rd chip position, but it didn't
hold up.
Incidentally, you can opt for 2 $550 tournament seats (& give up $40 in
cash) instead of the $1060 seat. That is what I went for, since the $1060
tournament is limit holdem & I suck at limit holdem tournaments. I'm in the
shoot out (1st table limit holdem, final table "spread" limit (40 to 1) so
it is really no limit) & the Omaha 8 or better.
I'll probably play again next week.
Regards, Rich Strauss
