Re: [ba-poker] RGPM: Moderator Selection - Call for Volunteers

There usually are more tournaments available right away. In fact, I suspect
that some people go all in on the first hand regardless of content, then
either bust out and go to another table, or start the now-9-8-or-7-handed
tourney with a big stack compared to the rest of the players.

If I do it my way, and I finish in the money 75% of the time, and it's
equally split among 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, the buyin is $11, 1st gets $50, 2nd
pays $30, 3rd pays $20, so my expectation is
(39*.25)+(19*.25)+(9*.25)-(11*.25)=+$14 [if I did that right] On those
very rare occasions when I get AA in the first hand, is my expectation
higher than $14 if I jam immediately?

I suppose the issue is, how big an advantage is it to have, say T1600 -
T2400 when 7-9 others have T800, the blinds are 15-25 going up every 10
hands. Be aware that, before the first orbit is over and the blinds have
risen even once, it's usually about 5-handed already, because others are
going all-in with crap and losing. In other words, the big stack the first
hand may not be much bigger than some other stacks after 10 hands.

Any thoughts on how to evaluate this?
