Well, figure it out for some specific scenario. The standard cliche is aces all in preflop against a full table (don't remember if it is 9 or 10) figures to win about 30% of the time. That would make your expectation about $15 (30% of the time you win $50).


But you're ignoring the time factor. Its (say) $15 in EV in one hand, rather than $14 in EV over however many minutes. Even if the EV were somewhat lower, the EV rate as a function of time could still be much, much higher.
