I played seven stud in the casino in Salzburg back in 1990. I think that poker was just beginning to catch on in Austria. The casino had a continuously playing video showing how to play near the poker table. It was well-produced visually, though I couldn't really tell how good it was because I don't speak German (except words like "flush." )


In general I liked the play, with tuxedoed dealers pulling in the chips with a little wooden rake and glamorous girlfriends wearing evening dresses sitting behind some of the players. I did feel a bit home-towned on one of the rule interpretations, though. I had a full house and was heads-up against an opponent who was probably drawing to a flush. The dealer accidentally dealt the opponent's final card heads-up. I proposed that he be given another final card. The opponent proposed that we split the pot. The dealer called over the floor manager (white tuxedo with tails) and, after a long discussion in German, they decided to split the pot. At that point I proposed all sorts of other reasonable solutions, but to no avail. I assume they have their rules straigtened out now.
