Yeah, right, and everyone just left the table and said, ho hum, we'll just
have to come back tomorrow to resume play. Didn't matter if it was two
minutes into a game and still early in the evening and everyone was rarin'
to gamble it up all night, if two players had big hands and one of them bet
more than the other could cover, that was it, everyone adjourned so Tex
could go home and get the deed to his ranch or wait till the bank opened
next day to get a loan. But what did Tex do with his cards? Did he take
them home to make sure no one messed with them? How would he know ole Hoss
didn't dig up better cards while he was gone? Maybe everyone didn't leave
the table, so they could keep an eye on Hoss. Maybe they just all sat
there for 24 hours waiting for Tex to come back. They couldn't play any
hands while they were waiting, of course, because that hand wasn't over
till Tex came back with the money. What would they do, mix all the cards
back in and then resume the hand on the honor system when Tex returned?
