Interestingly, they're both right. I wouldn't have thought so, and I don't
like "anteed," but both the Random House Unabridged Dictionary of the
English Language and American Heritage list "anteed" as the less common
alternative. Merriam-Webster allows only "anted." It's hard to make a
rule, because I can't find any other English verb that ends in "nte" and in
which the final "te" is a separate syllable.
