Deck changes are not permitted on tables with shuffle machines.

"Not permitted"? There were limits as to how many set-ups you could
get in a fixed time period at GC, too. But if I want a deck change,
it's not that hard to damage a card...

The fish haven't figured that out yet, or at least are not willing to trade vandalism for luck.

Actually, last night someone asked for, and received, a setup change at Bay 101 (6-12 game). So they're occasionally still possible.

Sometimes the machine damages cards all by itself. I've noticed four times or so a vertical indendation on the card in the same place, maybe 3/4" long, about the position of a top-left pip on a six. It's hard to see from the back, but it's just possible to see from the front if the light is just right. I saw it on two or three cards one night, and I've seen it occasionally since. But only at tables with shuffle machines.

Obviously it damages cards other than sixes, too. There must be something in that position that occasionally pinches the card.

Tim
