Does anyone have any rough figures on what the EV of a BB is in a
"typical" holdem game, 9 handed? How about the EV of a kill blind in a
game with a half kill?
The underlying question I'm thinking about is: how much does knowing you
will get the kill button (if you win) effect your calculations when
deciding whether to call/raise preflop on the prior hand? Up til now
I've been thinking of the entire kill amount as lost, but of course it's
not quite that bad.
So far my rule of thumb is to only come in if I have a truly premium
hand, or the situation looks *really* juicy. The exception to this
would be if I am UTG. There I find I don't need to be any tighter than
I would normally be there, since the kill would happen on my BB and is
thus not a big deal, plus I like someone to have the kill because I find
the competition makes more mistakes when the limit goes up.
tia for any advice,
-floppy
