It is live at Garden City and Artichoke Joe's (which also
drops $1 from the small blind for a player-funded jackpot,
an option not available to San Jose card rooms).
If there's no flop, Bay 101 drops $1 and the dealer must
shuffle and redeal if the automatic shuffler isn't ready
(which it would normally not be). As one might imagine,
chopping is very popular with this structure if it floats
to the blinds... I'd estimate about 90% chops at $6-$12 HE
(the small blind pays).
When Bay 101 introduced their new structure, they were
dropping $3 for $2-$4 HE and $4 for $4-$8 Omaha/8. A few
months later, with litle fanfare, they raised those drops
to $4 and $5, respectively. Since Omaha/8 is slower (partly
the game, partly contentious players and partly a few
dealers who have trouble with it), I can understand
the extra dollar... but dropping $4 from a $2-$4 HE pot
is horrid. How many of these kids realize the hit their
bankroll is taking? I don't like paying that much
at $6-$12 HE!
