[ba-poker] Broadcast Poker has Jumped the Shark

Yesterday evening, just before 5:00 PM, I was driving around town doing
some errands, and the car radio was tuned to KFOG. Big Rick Stuart
was the
DJ. In between the music and the advertisements and the rush-hour
traffic
reports, radio personalities like Big Rick fill the air with colorful
commentary to amuse and entertain the listeners. And what colorful
commentary did Big Rick provide for our amusement and entertainment?
A BAD-BEAT STORY, that's what!
Except it wasn't even a bad beat. He says he went all-in with AQs and
ran into pocket tens. The tens held up, and Big Rick lost all his
chips.
What's the world coming to when a radio personality solicits the
sympathy
of thousands upon thousands of listeners, when he was actually behind
at odds of 6 to 5?
It's official: Broadcast poker has jumped the shark. When you can't
turn
on the radio without being barraged by bad-beat stories, poker's
popularity
has come too far. Rebellion by the audience is inevitable.
